OPG / CBCT

OPG and CBCT are dental imaging tests—OPG shows a panoramic view of the jaws, while CBCT gives 3D images for detailed diagnosis.

OPG / CBCT

An Orthopantomogram (OPG) is a wide-view X-ray of the lower face that displays all the teeth of the upper and lower jaw, including the jaws, TMJ joints, sinuses, and dental roots. It is commonly used by dentists and oral surgeons to:

  • Assess tooth development and alignment

  • Diagnose wisdom teeth issues

  • Detect cysts, tumors, or bone loss

  • Evaluate jaw fractures or dental trauma

  • Plan for implants, braces, or extractions

The procedure is quick, painless, and involves minimal radiation exposure. The patient stands still while the machine rotates around the head to capture the image.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a specialized 3D imaging technique that provides highly detailed views of the dental and maxillofacial region. Unlike regular X-rays, CBCT offers a three-dimensional scan of the area, making it ideal for:

  • Dental implant placement

  • Jawbone structure and sinus mapping

  • Orthodontic treatment planning

  • TMJ disorder diagnosis

  • Detection of cysts, lesions, or impacted teeth

🔹 Key Benefits:

  • Accurate 3D images in a single scan

  • Quick scan time (usually under 1 minute)

  • Essential for precision in dental surgeries

The patient is positioned in the CBCT unit, and the machine rotates around the head to capture multiple angles. The data is reconstructed into a 3D model for detailed evaluation.
