Uroflowmetry

Uroflowmetry is a test that measures the flow rate of urine to evaluate bladder and urinary tract function.

Uroflowmetry

Uroflowmetry, also known as urine flow test, is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure used to measure the speed, volume, and pattern of urine flow. It is commonly used to assess bladder function and detect urinary issues such as obstruction, weak bladder muscles, or enlarged prostate.

The patient urinates into a special device that records the urine flow rate in real time. The test is quick, painless, and requires no anesthesia or special preparation. It is especially useful in diagnosing conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), urethral strictures, and neurogenic bladder disorders.

Key Uses:

  • Evaluating difficulty in urination or slow stream

  • Monitoring treatment progress for prostate or bladder conditions

  • Identifying abnormalities in urinary flow patterns

Uroflowmetry provides valuable insights into urinary health and helps doctors plan effective treatment strategies.
